CHRYSTA BILTON is an American writer who lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two children. Her first book, the memoir Normal Family: On Truth, Love, and How I Met My 35 Siblings, was published in July 2022 by Little, Brown in the US and Octopus in the UK. It is currently being translated into Polish for release in 2023.
Chrysta's work has appeared in The Guardian, Literary Hub, and Newsweek. She has discussed family secrets, addiction, mental health, the roots of shame, and navigating a complex, unconventional family with NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross, BBC's Women's Hour, The Los Angeles Times, New York Magazine's Pivot Podcast, Vanity Fair, and many others.
Normal Family was listed among Kirkus's Best Nonfiction Books of 2022 and named a 'best' or 'must-read' book of Summer 2022 by Amazon, The Los Angeles Times,Vanity Fair, People, USA Today, The Hollywood Reporter, Cup of Jo, Parade, Today, Apple, and elsewhere. The book has been praised by NPR, The Washington Post, BBC, USA Today, The Telegraph, and many other publications.
